ELCO Youth Sports

The ELCO Tennis Boosters Club is comprised of parents and volunteers joined together to (#1) support the needs of the High School boys and girls tennis teams and (#2) develop and strengthen the tennis community through programs for all ages and abilities. It is our goal to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to learn to play tennis – a life-time sport - and that a pathway exists to experience a successful athletic career through High School and beyond.  We are also dedicated to the whole development of our players including tennis, education, and community service.  The club is also a registered USTA Community Tennis Association (CTA) under the name of ELCO Tennis Partners. Spring 2011:

Boys HS tennis season is currently underway with home and away matches through mid-May.  For a current list of matches visit www.HighSchoolSports.net .

The Boys and Girls Teams will be helping with the United Way Day of Caring on April 16th as a community service project.  The players will be washing windows for the Domestic Violence Intervention transitional housing.

Upcoming Youth Programs:

In May we will be offering a USTA Team Tennis program for youth grades 3 – 8.  This program will run for 6 sessions – Tuesday and Thursday after school until 5pm, May 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 & 26.  Each session will include a practice and a team match.  The children will be divided into teams at the first session.  The cost to participate is $30/ player (online registration only – see attached flyer for instruction.)   The High School Tennis team players will provide the instruction and team coaching. All proceeds will benefit the booster club accounts of the students helping with the program.

2011 After School Program Flyer

In June will again be offering our Raider Youth Tennis training camp for all students completing grades 1st through 8th.  This is a fun camp filled with lots of games and activities that develop strokes, skills, movement and all-around knowledge related to tennis. The dates are June 20th – 23 (with June 24 as a rain date), nightly from 6 to 8pm.  The cost to attend the camp is $55/player.  To participate in this program please complete the attached flyer and mail with payment to ELCO Tennis Booster, c/o Jill Fidler, 503 Woleber Road, Myerstown, 17067.  Families with multiple players receive a $15 discount for each additional registration.

Special Olympics Lebanon County:

ELCO Tennis Partners is the sponsoring organization for Lebanon County Special Olympics Tennis.  The 2011 season is underway with practices on Thursday evenings, from 6 to 7:30 at the high school courts now through June 2nd.   This year we have nine special athletes.  Club leaders and team players volunteer to help prepare the athletes for sectionals in April and state competition in June.  If you would like to volunteer to help with this program contact Cathy Shaak at (717) 866-2927.
